steve_barrett
I'd like to know if the Hasselblad PM45 is a better prism than the old NC2? What difference in performance would there be?
ulrik_neupert
The Hasselblad PM45 finder is a high eyepoint-design, you can use it without taking your glasses off. I never tested NC-2 and PM45 side by side, so I am not able to comment on brightness or contrast in comparison. Ulrik
Robin Smith
The PM has an accessory shoe which is very useful I have to admit. Otherwise I don't notice much difference in image quality. Robin Smith
butch_welch
I have a PM5 and a PM45. The PM45 is much easier to focus. I was supprised at first and thought it was me so I checked them several times back and forth. The PM45 seems to pop in and out of focus better. There is a difference in magnification between the 2 (2.5 - PM45, 3 - PM5) perhaps this contributes to this. I prefer the PM45
jay_.
The NC2 is a 3x magnification (as are the PM/PM3/PM5 and their metered siblings), the PM45 is 2.5x. I find that's just adequate. I had a PM90 (2X)and found it very hard to focus without the split/microprism screen. The PM45 also has a built-it dioptric correction. For those who are nearsighted but wear bifocals for closer distances I find that a godsend. The NC2 is smaller of course. I have the Kiev NC2 clone which I take travelling. For outdoor photography I can still focus it fine with my standard glasses on. And for under $100 it's a good deal.
bill_dewberry
The NC2 is an excellent prism, with two exceptions, cannot mount a polaroid back behind it, no cold shoe on top. If those 2 things are not important to you, the NC2 will be excellent.
john da
There is a NC-2 100 (52028) which has a the same basic shape as the NC-2 (TIPOC/ 52027) view finder, but was redesigned so that the Polarid film back would fit and work. I have heard that only about 2000-3000 were made. I have had one for years and enjoy it. But, I can't offer an opinion if it is or is not better than the PM45. Aoresteen
The old NC2 prism was much heavier than the PM45.
