german_e._vargas_y.
I had to send my camera (D60) for a waranty repair. It came to a point where it did not recognize any of my Canon lenses, problems started when I bought expansion tubes and an additional lens. Yes, I swaped the lenses without turning the camera off. Does anyone can tell for sure if I shoulded? The manual does not state anything and and the camera has micro-switches (battery door, CF Card door)that turn off the camera when you're supposed to, even if you dont want to. I am positive that is not about dirty contacts! Thanks for your comments. From Mexico: German Vargas
Ken Katz
I have never turned off my D60, or any EOS body, before changing lenses.
s._fisher
I'm not aware of any reason to turn a camera off before changing lenses; and I don't turn mine off before changing them nor do I know of anyone who does.
will_perlis
I haven't either. No problems with D30, EOS-3, or 1v.
Rich_Phelan
I almost never turn off my 10D before changing lenses. There is a school of thought that states that you should turn off the camera to reduce the charge in the sensor thus attracting less dust into the camera while the lens is off. I seem to get some ammount of dust inside no matter what I do. With the film bodies it doesn't matter at all.
