v_janssen
Which lens(es) would one recommend for crisp, versatile results for firstly : medium size tabletop set-ups of organics (food, plants) and secondly macro set-ups, with either D100 or FujiS2. Thank you in advance for your feedback.Vic.
brooks short
I shoot a lot of table-top still-life photography. Since the D100 and S2 have a focal length magnification, I would use a lens that is the equivalent to short telephoto on 35mm film. I'm guessing that that would be something in the 70-100 length. A slight telephoto effect helps in keeping relative sizes equal from the front to rear of the shot. And a slight telephoto will give you more subject to camera distance when you need room for lights or reflectors. If you are trying to minimize distortion of tall straight edge object while shooting at a slight downward or upward angle then a longer telephoto and more distance will help. For Macro shots I would use Nikon's 105mm macro lens which would be good for general table-top use also. But you are free to use whatever lens gives you the perspective that you want from wide-angle to telephoto.
ellis_vener_photography
If you have the money go with the Nikon 85mm f/2.8D PC Micro-Nikkor.see Bjorn Roslett's site for a thorough review. Click on reviews and then look for "85 mm f/2.8 PC Micro-Nikkor: The wait is over".
