vedearduff
Ajay, Yes, the F5 will meter with this lens. You will lose any and all matrix metering, Aperture Priority and Manual exposure modes will be available but none of the others will. Check out the following site for information about the cost and availability, I believe the cost is around 80.00 USD. http://home.carolina.rr.com/headshots/Nikonhome.htm I hope this helps. ajaytyagi
I guess I have seen threads about 'chipping it' from Rolland which confused me. I could live without matrix metering, considering that most telephotos are used for portrait or wildlife.
ellis_vener_photography
Matrix metering is terrific. Rolland does a good job and I think it should cost around US$100. if you don't have the chp implant done you have center weighted (which is adjustable in terms of how big an area the metering patter ncovers, or spot metering.<P>The 400mm f/3.5 AI-S is one very terrific lens and much over looked. ajaytyagi
Thank you all it definately clears up the metering issue. Overall is this a good lens especially if you cannot afford the 2.8??
