Using Nikon equipment on a Canon EOS Digital Cam

Hi there,

I have a Nikon F90X + SB-26 + 24-120mm F/3.5-5.6D AF Zoom-Nikkor.

I am thinking of moving to a Canon digital camera EOS 300D or EOS 10D.

First of all, before selling my Nikon, I wanted to know if I can use

the Lens/Flash on the Canon?

(I prefer to buy just the body of the Canon and stay with my lens and

flash) Will I get good performance out of such a "mix"?

Second, if at the end I will have to sell my Nikon, I wanted to know

what would be a reasonable price to charge for each part (body, lens,

flash) considering that I bought it new 6 years ago, I am an amateur

photographer and the equipment is in excellent condition.

Thanks for the help!

Jonathan.

The secondhand prices look at eBay or where u intend to sell it. Don't go to used shops or shops that sell new and used equip, they are marked up and they give a warranty.

The flash, I am not aware of.

The leneses, yes I have heard of. Called Nikon mount for Canon. Do a google search. Some limitations thou. U can also look at one of my previous threads I put up, thru my profile. U may be able to search it there...

I am not sure what happens if u have manual lenses thou...

Thanks for the answer guys!

So now I need help deciding between selling my Nikon F90X body and replacing it with a Nikon digital body and keeping my lens and flash or selling all my Nikon equipment and move to a Canon EOS 300D.

And if I only sell the body, which Nikon would you recommend matching the Canon EOS 300D?

Thanks,

Jon.

There is no nikon body that "matches" the canon 300d. The D100 is a lot better body. The only downside is that there is no $100 18-55 lens for the D100. I have the D100 and love it. I also had a canon d30, hated it and the canon optics. I'd go for a used d1 or new or used d100. Nothing wrong with canon I just didn't like it.

If your lens has an aperture ring then it can be used on an EOS camera-but there are a couple of provisos. You need to buy an eos to nikon adapter off ebay and you will never have autofocus.
handy for occasional use but probably useless in the long term.
If you seel, definitely do it on ebay-you'll get quite good prices, especially for the lens.Definitely get a digital pic of the items, put a minimum price you'll be happy with(in case there is only 1 bidder) and don't make a deal with anyone before the auction ends. All the good bids come within the last few hours (or seconds!)

Good luck with it whichever way you decide to go!

Hi there. Just so you know there is a strange beast out there. I believe it is

from a company called novaflex. It is a mount that allows you to use Nikon

lens on a EOS body, and not loose your infinity focus. There hard to find, but

they are out there. I had the same dilema when I switched to canon...I didn't

want to sell my 600/f/4, and have to replace it in Canon..Good luck!

The company name is Novoflex (with another "o," not an "a"), and it does allow Nikon lenses to fit the Canon EOS mount. It runs something over $200 new. Most of the advances of the EOS system over the last twenty or so years are lost, of course, but it can be done.

I post this on this old thread since I am sure that this must come up on the searches again and again.
