todd_boyer
Is there any difference between the sca 3502 adapter and the 3501 on an r8? I have an m7 as well and the 3502 allows high speed sync with the metz 32mz3 flash. Will the 3502 allow flash speeds greater than 1/250 on the R8 or allow easier fill flash? Thanks Todd
john_amiet2
Todd, I believe the R9 is required for that higher synch speed, but others will give beter info I am sure. John
gabriel_shaw1
Email Metz support via http://www.metz.de/ . last week they answered a similar question regarding these adaptors and the m7 for me responding in a few days. The SCA 3502 is also reprogrammable for newer camera functionality the sca 3501 is not There is nothing like getting an authoritative answer straight from the pferdes (horses) own mouth concerning the the whole jungle of SCA specications
terry_dent1
All I know is that the 3501 would not mount on my new 54 series flash. Not compatible. I contacted Metz and they swapped my 3501 for a 3502. No charge.

salvatore
Todd The SCA3502 works fine with the R8. Higer flash synchr. is not possible as the R8 is the limiting factor. The SCA3502 was designed to work with the M7/R9 as they allow higher synchr.. Note that the higher synchr. makes only sense in M or A Mode. The higher sychr. according my infos will not work in P or T Mode for fillin flash.
ray_moth
As said, 3501 is OK for R8. I used one for a few months with no problem. However, I believe I read, somewhere, that you should avoid early 3501s, which had some sort of bug.
