harry_deshmukh
HI All, I am trying to understand the different varieties for print film manufactured by Kodak and Fuji( I think they are leader in film market and R&D on print film) . I usually shoot either 100/400 ASA. I have used mostly Kodak Gold film. Recently I have shoot on Porta 160 NC/VC. I would like to know if there is any comprehensive site which list the differences / comparisons between Kodak/Fuji consumer/Pro grade films. Also which film to choose in different lighting condition ( I do know the difference between tungsten/day light film) or for subject based selection ( Porta NC may be good for Portraits) . I know that good equipment and good film selection can get me better results. Please help me getting educated on this. Thanks You Harry
eric friedemann
Some good links: http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:GuwpXGr2UHQJ:www.photographic.com/showarchives.cgi%3F167+color+print+film+guide&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 http://creekin.net/films.htm And then there's "Grumpy": http://www.grumpysworld.com/photoguide/film.htm Regards,
phil s.
Thanks Eric for the grumpysworld link, that was way too funny: "if you're going to shoot E6, get your head out of your a** and use a Fuji product", etc, etc.
eric friedemann
Even when you don't agree with Grumpy, he's hilarious to read.
minh_thai
This is really off topic, but why the heck does it matter if it's a Nikon or Canon or Leica?
dan_andrews
Why not check the manufacturer's websites? http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/features/featuresIndex.jhtml http://www.fujifilm.com/ http://www.agfa.com/photo/products/film/ http://www.konica.com/ Also, Popular Photography publishes a film comparison once a year. Check them at your local library, or visit popphoto.com. If you're in the UK, Practical Photography magazine publishes film reviews and a film guide on a regular basis to review old info and update new info. Practical Photography magazine offers regular 'head-to-head' comparisons that convinced me to try films I otherwise would not have.
