derek_simpson
It's a software update available from canon site by download to your computer. I did it once having bought a second hand digital and the procedure was simple - as far as I can remember the update was loaded onto a compact flash card - then inseerted into the camera and a bit of menu juggling and that was that. For current version number check the Canon site. I presume Canon is responding to feedback and their own R&D to improve performance.
mark u
I think the firmware update is mostly just about adding Pictbridge support for direct printing from the camera. It seems that Canon policy is to provide this capability retrospectively across their entire digital range where this is possible.
