bill_goldman
My EOS-1v instruction booklet states: "A flash unit attached to the camera's hot shoe and a flash unit connected to the camera's PC terminal can be used at the same time." However, although Canon Speedlites use a low 6 volt trigger (for the hot shoe), Canon has not published a limit on trigger voltage for the PC connection. Just to be safe rather than sorry, I would recommend employing a voltage regulator such as the Wein SafeSync to limit your studio strobe trigger voltage to 6 volts also. And if your sync cord's polarity is opposite to the camera's, it will not work, at least on the EOS-1v; your EOS-3 is probably the same.
Ken Katz
Bill, I resently asked Canon Tech support (via E-mail) what is the max sync voltage for the PC connectors of the EOS 3 and D60. The response for both cameras was 6 volts.
