Removing black paint on Canon 5D

Recommended Posts

Ok I know this sounds crazy. I have my old Canon 5D mk2. It’s in poor condition and high miles on it. It’s not worth much anymore these days and not worth selling. I have this ideal of removing all the black paint on the camera and leaving it bare to the magnesium shell.

Iv seen the complete tear down of the camera on YouTube and seems pretty straight forward. is this possible and what’s the best solution or solvents to use to removing the paint?

Perhaps soaking the shell in paint remover? Are you still planning to use the camera or is it going to be an ornamental conversation piece. Just taking the shell and paint with a non-toxic clear coat and making an aquarium ornament with bubble coming out might be cool. 🙂
