nic_olas
I read in a few other posts about the max aperture pin system the FD bodies use and I think my A1 has an issue here. The body reads EVERY attached lens a stop smaller than the max aperture; for example an f1.4 lens is reading as an f1.8 max, and f4 reads as a f5.6 max etc. Whether on Auto modes or manual, it doesn't want to "see" the max aperture. I feel like the pin isn't being engaged properly by any attached lens. Any help would be great! Lens stops down, so I can assume the aperture lever is (at least mostly) working. Thanks Edited March 22, 2023 by Grim Nicholas
gwhitegeog
I did have this issue many years ago, when I was about 16 years' old and the my A1 body was a new birthday present from my dad! I had that body for many years and about 1990, I had it serviced by a classic camera shop in central London and they fixed the problem. I think it required the disassembly of the mirror box. Not sure which country you are in, but if you can find a good technician who can service Canon FD era cameras, I think it is an easy adjustment whilst s/he does the main service.
