JCM
I recently found a picture that I would like to get some information on. I don't know when it was taken, but the back of it says "instax Fujifilm". I found on the internet that instax was not release until the end of 1998. The picture was falling apart and when I peeled the bottom of the picture, I found a number "K925204603239". Does anyone know what type of information I can get from that number? Thanks for any help...
chuck_foreman1
I would chase that with Fuji. I suspect they will not be very helpful though. I suspect this is likely a batch or production number and it could more closely determine when the film was produced. One could with an empirical formula predict that it was shot within a year of production. Good Luck
glen_h
Instax is Fuji's competition for Polaroid. As well as I know it, they couldn't sell it in the US while Polaroid was still around. The Polaroid film for the SX-70 and later cameras, exposes from the front. It then goes through rollers that squeeze chemicals inside, develop the image, and show it to you. Since it exposes from the front, there needs to be a mirror beween the lens and film. The Kodak and Fuji versions expose from the back, so no mirror needed. Kodak hoped that would be enough to avoid Polaroid patents, but they lost. Instax comes in a few different sizes, but are otherwise the same chemistry. -- glen
