Maternity photo critique- very new photographer

The concept of #3 and #4 is good. The execution is not as good, perhaps limited because you were working with a set Shutter Speed, Aperture and Focal Length, and with uncontrolled lighting (or not sufficient thought of the lighting): although you nailed focus on the face in both, I think these are two examples where the main limitation is the equipment's failure to create the idea that the Photographer had in his head.

Keep going - I reckon you have a good eye and a crafty sense of The Art.

I actually like all but the first one.  I can't really tell what the main subject of the first pic is, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with maternity.  On the third one, perhaps the face could have been softened a bit using various tools in post-processing.  You might want to look up how to use the high-pass filter (and invert it) to soften skin.  Of course, there are ways to soften the light on skin when you take the shot as well, but they generally require using reflectors of varying sorts or techniques like bounce flash.
