Mike Gammill
Rick- I owned a Vivitar 70-150 during the early 1980's. Surprisingly, my family's camera shop did not carry Vivitar, but the test report I read was so favorable I ordered one. I sold it later when I bought a Minolta 35-135 f 3.5-4.5 MD. I decided that the extra 15mm on the Vivitar would not be missed. Also by then I had a 250 mm f 5.6 Rokkor mirror lens. I will look through my slides from those days and see if I can find some taken with the Vivitar. BTW, anyone have any experience with the Vivitar 85-205 f 3.8? My dad owned one in the days before we opened our camera shop and I used to use that lens on his Mamiya Sekor 1000 TL to take football pictures while I was a high school student. I was lucky enough to find a minty example of the lens a couple of years ago. Built by Kino Precision, it's a magnificent piece of machinery that performs very well indeed. It's a heavy two-touch zoom with a handy close-up ability that is very convenient to use; there's a little click-stop at the end of the standard focusing range and with a little more pressure the focus moves into "macro" mode, without the annoyance of additional buttons or catches. I like this feature, and I use the lens quite frequently for botanical work. There's a pic of the lens below, with it's built-in hood in the retracted position, and three samples taken this morning between breakfast and coffee. Bill Bowes
Faced with over a 50% drop in sales, some of Hawaii's commercial fishermen are now offering "value added" product lines for retail sales. This selection of tuna dishes have numerous local recipes. I purchased one jar (Italian garlic & tomatoes) and must report they are very good ! Aloha, Bill Fed-3 / N-61, UFX 400, Hypercat & V600 scan.
Ricochetrider
I'll add one I don't think I posted yet, another from the Coney Island Provia series Hasselblad 500cm, 80mm Planar, Fuji Provia 100F. I like this shot because of the dynamic range between light & shadows, Not 100% sure but it feels like this where Provia really shines.
