BeBu Lamar
Which are the compatible teleconverter for this lens? I am thinking of getting this lens and add a teleconverter may be both teleconverters so I have 300mm f/2.8, 450mm f/4 and 600mm f/5.6. I pick this version of the lens because it's compatible with my F3 as well as my Df.
ShunCheung
With the exception of the TC-14E III (version 3), any one of the other six TC-nnE teleconverters is fully compatible with the 300mm/f2.8 AF-S II: TC-14E, TC-14E IITC-17E IITC-20E, TC-20E II, and TC-20E III You can also use the older, non AF, TC-14b and TC-301, but there will have no AF with your Df. The latest TC-14E III is designed for G lenses. It will not be fully functional on an older AF-S lens with an aperture ring, such as the 300mm/f2.8 AF-S, original or version II. However, the 300mm/f2.8 AF-S with VR, both versions, are G lenses. Nikon has never made any F-mount lens with all three: aperture ring, AF-S, and VR. Yup and thus I decide to skip the VR and have both AF-S and the aperture ring.
