jomeer
Hello On old SLR's many used to have a split screen for focusing - when the two segments matched the image was in focus. On my 5D I - the screen is very dark and 'muddy'. Is it possible to change the viewfinder/screen to achieve a brighter image and possibly a split screen as old? mike_sowsun
The 5D screen shouldn't be "dark and muddy", but it will be slightly darker than the old film SLRs, Have you tried another lens? Sometimes the lens aperture can get stuck and cause a dark viewfinder. Yes, split screen focus screens are available. It is fairly easy to change: Canon 5D split focusing screen for manual lenses Here is a list of focus screens available for the 5D "Classic": Focusing Screen See this link for instructions how to change it: canon eos 5d focusing screen installation Edited March 18, 2020 by mike_sowsun
