Regarding the birch, there is a Chinese red-barked birch (Betula albosinensis) that's grown as an ornamental tree down here in New Zealand; it looks very like the one you photographed but I don't think I would have expected to come across one in Vermont! 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
