western_isles
I recently posted that the comments box does not work and other stuff which other members have also been complaining about for some time. I would now like to thank the people who run Photo.net for helping me decide NOT to renew my membership. I tried to use the Contact us function and yet again this basic function, used on millions of websites worldwide, does not work. There are many other photography sites which work and where you can receive a response to queries but PN is not one. Anyone who is thinking of taking out a membership don't waste your money  I would be interested to see what other members, especially those who subscribe, think of this woeful situation. Dave Luttmann
I have been having issues uploading photos. I haven't had a response from the admin as yet. But the issue has been going since they rolled out the new version. What sites would folks recommend that have the following attributes - Functions working correctly - Actual traffic.
Vincent Peri
I only shoot film and don't digitize my photos, so I don't post anything here. I subscribed because I enjoy seeing all the many varied photos by other members. But if they start leaving in droves and don't post any photos, there is no reason for me to hang around any more.

yannik_hay
I also have issues about deleting photos. When I refresh my page, the deleted photos are still there. Also, how do I prevent people from downloading my photos. I don't see anywhere to disable this. I don't want anyone from downloading my photos.
Dave Luttmann
I'm done here. Admin say they are fixing the uploading issue. Still doesn't work. What kind of photo site doesn't have a functioning photo upload system? With this, and other functionality issues....and traffic that has slowed to an absolute trickle....after 16 years, I am done with this site. Such a shame it has gone down the tubes like this. I'll check out Nikonians and Photrio.
Dave Luttmann
One thing to note on the issue of traffic and how things have changed....I went to look at some popular forums and niche forums...here is what I found for active users at that moment: Fred Miranda 4187 Photrio 1253 Large format forum 801 Rangefinder 305 Filmwasters 51 Photo.net 42 Even a little niche film forum with limited members has more than photo.net Unbelievable drop over the years. This would explain why some threads sit idle for weeks without a response.

I just found out that you can "admire" your own pictures! and that makes the whole concept of voting irrelevant and rather absurd? Furthermore, several months ago I won prizes in the various competitions. But I did not receive the promised prizes. Even when I mailed a reminder and received a polite answer that they were working on distributing the prizes. All in all everything worked just fine before the great change of layout. After that so many things seems messed up and the members are fleeing in great numbers. Just look at your number of views for your pictures before and then the new ones you have uploaded after the layout changes. Rather empty in here by now, no?...
western_isles
Yes, I also found that I could 'admire' one of my own images on the site which came as a surprise. So does that mean I can now become the most admired contributor on PN V2 with the click of button a few dozen times? Suggestion: Why don't we all start admiring our own work multiple times? Admin I hope that you are reading this?
Dave Luttmann
So, I tried the photo upload again on my iPad. Still doesn't work. The Admin created a thread yesterday stating it was being fixed. Can't post in that thread letting him know it isnt fixed because for some reason, they locked the thread out to comments. Heaven forbid we let them know the fix doesnt work.

Admin I hope that you are reading this? I have now tried what you suggested. It seems now that admin/moderator first removed my "admiration" but when I started writing about that also, he put it back on. But maybe now it only possible to place one "admiration" on your own pictures. But it is still possible to applause yourself like crazy and favorite your own pictures. Just look here: Seeking Critiques @ Photo.net - Where Photographers Inspire Each Other

Dave Luttmann
Unfortunately our site is not optimized for iPad at this time. Well something changed because I have uploaded photos before. Considering larger and larger numbers of people use tablets and phones....this has now killed the site for me. You've lost another member.

Forums generate roughly 1.5M PV/month and has 1M unique users - now many of those only read they do not register and interact - but that holds true on most sites. This screenshot of some of the sites mentioned standardizes the site users as it is from one source.
