darinedwards
Hello everyone, Could anyone out there help me? Is there a way to open .psd format file without Adobe Photoshop?
chuck909
Paint Shop Pro Gimp (free download)
Matthew Currie
The free program Irfanview lists PSD among the files it will open. If you simply need to view a file or to convert it, this may the fastest and easiest program to use. The free program Faststone Image Viewer will also open PSD. A bit more editing is possible in this one.

Wouter Willemse
If you need to edit the file, I'd recommend Affinity Photo, not free, but an excellent competetitor to Photoshop. Photoshop Elements is also an alternative (again, not free), as is Paint Shop Pro already mentioned. All these programs will keep all features of the PSD file and allow editing while maintaining all features. Personally, I think Affinity stands out of this crowd, so it would be my first trial to download. Paint.NET is an editor that can work with PSD files, but it doesn't have full compatibility with all features possible in PSD files, it's free though (Windows only). GIMP same story, available on all platforms. If you only need to view the file, the options already mentioned will work.
