howardstanbury Posted August 17, 2014 Share Posted August 17, 2014
I'm sorry to say that my most recent photos have been with cameras made by other manufacturers - an early Olympus 'compact' zoom film camera (the AZ-300) and an Instax 210 camera. No room here, then. But I did venture out with the NEX-7 once this week to visit the Barbara Kruger exhibition at Modern Art Oxford

<a title="REMEMBER ME by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3852/14724713618_b44e1309fb_c.jpg" alt="REMEMBER ME" width="634" height="800" />
^ NEX-7, SEL 16mm f/2.8 and 0.75x adaptor (= 12mm)

Earlier this summer I was in Arles and visited one of the many exhibitions at the big photo show there, Les Rencontres d'Arles

<a title="Les Rencontres / Muniz by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3909/14694053597_336747e86a_c.jpg" alt="Les Rencontres / Muniz" width="537" height="800" />
^ Vik Muniz at Église des Trinitaires (NEX-7 and SEL 18-55); the lady here was practising her operatic voice in this lovely setting.

And the word on the Arlesian street was that you had to be fairly well endowed with photographic gear to get the job done

<a title="Street photographer by Howard Stanbury, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5581/14867059704_c50fdc1f82_c.jpg" alt="Street photographer" width="537" height="800" />
Me, I prefer the NEX-7 with 18-55 lens.

Please add your selection of pictures taken with Sony/Minolta gear, digital or film, to a maximum of 3 photos.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
User_2019667 Posted August 17, 2014 Share Posted August 17, 2014
Howard, Those are excellent, sharp photos. That NEX -7 and 18-55 lens is great.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
howardstanbury Posted August 17, 2014 Author Share Posted August 17, 2014
Thanks, John: I agree! The lens (and the 16mm f/2.8 prime) is under-rated.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

randy_cooprider1 Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014
Playing with the Nex3 and kit lens. This is a geode which occurs around sedimentary rock, so there are a lot of them around here. This one has been polished up.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
randy_cooprider1 Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014 I used the manual focus ring to zero in on this blossom. Worked well.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
randy_cooprider1 Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014 I removed the color and increased the contrast.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
howardstanbury Posted August 18, 2014 Author Share Posted August 18, 2014
I love the colours in those wedding pictures, James. And a nice flower shot, Randy - presumably your kit lens is the 18-55 too?
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
