randy_cooprider1 Posted May 4, 2013 Share Posted May 4, 2013 As you probably know, I always check out the Canon and Nikon forums to look at the excellent pictures that are there. Nathan Gardner has been starting the Canon forum for a while and now has reached the time when he will graduate from the University of Louisville. He has done a good job and had really good pictures of wildlife mixed with some campus photography. He is being replaced by Lupo Lobo whose pictures usually make me hungry. Although Nathan will keep posting, I would like to tell him thanks and good luck in his career. Spring tried to spring but had to rewind after a few short days. I did manage to catch 3 outdoor shots to post. Post some (up to 3) of yours with the long side no more than 700 pixels.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

howardstanbury Posted May 5, 2013 Share Posted May 5, 2013
I visited a late 19th century church in Oxford yesterday, St Barnabas in Jericho. The church was funded and built by the then Printer to the University as a church for the workers at the University Press who lived in that same suburb. The building is a little gem of Victorian high-church art.

<a title="St Barnabas, Oxford: interior by FlickrDelusions, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8404/8708466264_aae5911544_c.jpg" alt="St Barnabas, Oxford: interior" width="507" height="800" />
Interior

<a title="St Barnabas, Oxford: pulpit detail /2 by FlickrDelusions, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8134/8708464692_24a8e1beae_c.jpg" alt="St Barnabas, Oxford: pulpit detail /2" width="800" height="617" />
Detail from pulpit; saint holding a vessel in the form of flaming heart

<a title="St Barnabas, Oxford: pulpit detail /1 by FlickrDelusions, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8537/8708463690_8a81c98f52_c.jpg" alt="St Barnabas, Oxford: pulpit detail /1" width="529" height="800" />
Detail from pulpit - saint in front of burning logs

All NEX-7 with Sigma E 30mm f/2.8
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
randy_cooprider1 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Share Posted May 5, 2013 David, good angles on the cart and crew. Howard, cathedral construction was one of the History channel specials and the heights they worked at to build the lofty arches was scary. Of course after they were finished the buildings were magnificent. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Member69643 Posted May 5, 2013 Share Posted May 5, 2013
Very nice flicker capture, Randy! It is hard to get close to a lot of birds.
David, I like the bee closeup, nice macro work.
Howard, those frescoes are amazing.
Today's submission is my dog. He insisted on the cowboy hat.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
david_smith110 Posted May 6, 2013 Share Posted May 6, 2013
Thx Randy, thx Patrick. And I'm normally a cat person myself but that dog just looks to cute in that hat. You could never get a cat to wear a hat. It would claw your eyes out.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Member69643 Posted May 7, 2013 Share Posted May 7, 2013
I have to disagree, cats do wear hats. At least ours will. For a few microseconds at least. I have a photo of him wearing one in my pnet portfolio. I'd link it but can't figure out how.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
