carly_h
The Sony NEX5N! Does anyone have any tips? I find the flash annoying in some pictures, it is way too much. Also, I am having trouble getting larger images to have as much blur in the background as I would like. Any tips on those areas or with settings or any in general, are very much appreciated!! Thank you :)
rickeselgroth
You need to be using a lens with a larger apature f2.8 or less for wide angle lenses and usually with a lens with a narrow view like a 100mm-500mm f8 or less. This will give you background the defocusing of the back ground your looking for. Wide angle lenses usually have a very long depth of feild ( focus from 4ft to infn.).
rickeselgroth
If your using a kit lens you better make a purchase of a faster lens F2.8-f1.0 ($$$)
Use "A" setting , (Ap Prior)
leslie_cheung
Separate the subject with the foreground (or background) with lot of spaces. Use larger apertures f1.4/1.8/2.0 as much as possible...

sgust
As for the flash, I imagine the NEX is similar to my a55 in that it will allow you to set the flash compensation in order to dial it down a bit.
