These are all very enjoyable to view. BTW, when I bought a new Minolta AF 28-100 zoom for my A100, a brand new, never used Maxxum 70 body came along with it. Sam Norris, your Maxxum 7 work in this thead is technically beautiful. I'm guessing that my Maxxum 70 might be a Maxxum 7 "Lite"? I have a new Minolta AF 50/1.7 that feels really nice and balanced on it, and am tempted to buy some film online and try it out. How did you get such a good scan into this post, and what was your film?

Has anyone else noted a LOT of "trying again" -- as ig photo.net is having trouble keeping portals open and cookies instance? Anyway, waay more than 11 images from any 1 of us, ... Here, I like water and reflections (sorry -- too many words?):

Alan, great fun shot, that boy is in heaven. Was it taken B&W or did you convert it?

Eddie, that shot of the chickadee's in the fountain is right on. Color looks good to me, DOF is perfect. Maybe, lighten the dark shades just a little if you can. You might gain a little detail in the top birds face and chest that way, but still I'd be proud to have taken that shot. What did you shoot?

Howard, thanks for the compliment. I scan with a Nikon Coolscan V. The results have been beyond my expectations. I am absolutely in love with the Maxxum 7. There is nothing you can say except it is a fine camera. The Maxxum 70 is new to me. This is the first time I have been aware of it. Minolta's page on it says 2004, so it is fairly new. The 50mm 1.7 is a great lens, I love it for street shots. You can walk into most anywhere with iso800 film and just shoot away. Give it a try.

Peter, it is so good to see some of your images. I've been by your portfolio here several times and am always disappointed that you don't put any images up. I really like the water, and the street shot is great. Nice work.

Wayne, gotta love the 900. I'm envious. And, a Ziess 24/70 on top of it. Wow! That first buggy shot is wonderful.

I find posting more images keeps me sharper. It also forces me to pick up the camera and push the button. That is why I like "No Words" so much. And, often, digging through old images to try and post to a subject, I find a real jewel. But watch out, it's addictive.

00SyLf-122041584.jpg.cb6bf1b85bd2b0003e6821534e225c33.jpg

Sam, the birds in the fountain were shot with the Sony a300 and the 70-300mm kit lense. (worst lense in sony's whole linup) With a polarizer. But to be honest thats probably the best photo i have taken in the whole month and a half i have been into photography.

I always shoot in colour, unless i'm using film. It gives me more options ;then i convert using the channel mix and finish with curves. I tend to go for a film look which i suppose i'm used to.

Really nice to see a WNW thread and some really good photos from newbies..

Hey guys,
I haven't had much time lately to get out and snap some shots. Or keep updated with the happenings on here, I really wish I had a few more hours in my day. Anywho, nice variety of shots here, and they are all very nice!

Along with the many others I too would love to see this sort of thing happen about once a week.

Here's one of my latest (we still have snow here in Newfoundland, about 2 feet still on the ground):

Have i oversharpened?

I don't think so, the sharpening looks okay to me - though these is something that seems to be motion blur on the flower, but that could be the sharpening maybe...? I use to love these sorts of shots when I was 100% film, but haven't taken any for such a long time now sadly... Maybe this coming spring I will have a go again :). Are you shooting RAW Wayne? The exposure is off on this one, but there may be more info in the RAW.

250th at F8 and it was windy....i did oversharpen it quite a lot, maxed out in neatimage and doubled the dose in pse.... grin. Yep, i'm shooting raw at iso200. it came out a bit flat and soft but i expect that from this lens. I was quite pleased with the original fileand i'm sure i could have got the 'luminescence' with a bit more considered edition. Whatever, it's heaps better than what i've been getting, thanks to some good advice i've been getting around here.....

We ususally do a photo of the week in the Pentax Forums. It is a fun activity. I strongly suggest that you do one here on the Sony/Minolta side. My submission...shot with a Sony A350 and the 75-300 lens at 300mm.
