Much as we'd love to have put it off for longer, the old furnace was dying and probably getting dangerous. Luckily, we had a day in the 50's to be without it as a new one was surgically transplanted by a team of real pros. Of course we can't have a new fire-related appliance around the house without me taking some photos during the burn-in test.

Any interesting flame shots out there this week? Or, anything you've got! Share some images on this fine Nikon Wednesday.

Andrew Garrard
My "elements" theme from Yellowstone has reached "fire", so I'm in line with Matt's guidance - but since I've just been drenched in Vancouver, we'll mix fire and water to get steam. And geysers.

Embarrassingly, I'm a little hazy on where this one is, since I'm starting small - I think it's Cliff Geyser at Black Sand Basin (but I was too tired this early in the morning to pay enough attention to the tour).

Andrew Garrard
Stepping up a bit, it's Yellowstone, you have to have Old Faithful. A bit of a disappointment, sadly (and late enough that I'm not all that sure about the "faithful").

Andrew Garrard
And the biggest I'm going to get unless Excelsior goes off on my next trip: this is Grand Geyser. User_2019667
Matt,
I don't know if you could call the flames in my furnace in the early morning hours of Nov. 30, 2016 interesting,
but we were awakened at 4 am. of something burning inside of the house. After checking the living area
I went to the basement and found our furnace had caught fire. I know; there is supposed to be fire inside
of a furnace, but not where this fire was. Luckily we have gas fireplace logs in the living room and that was our source of heat for a week before we had a new furnace installed.

Kent Shafer
I am currently an Older Person. When I was a Younger Person, I laid this brick patio. I built this porch. With the help of good friends, I knocked a great hole in our home's back wall and installed this glass door.

Glory days.

Member69643
I had planned to share a bridge, but today I had to pull out an oldie. Guess who is *SIX MONTHS* old today! That's right, Bagheera! Yesterday he did something no other dog I've ever had has done. We were finished with supper and I was in the bedroom, and I hear my son laughing his head off from the a room by our dining room. I came out to investigate, and there, STANDING ON THE DINING ROOM TABLE is Bagheera! Standing. On the table. Needless to say a swat on the rump and a timeout was applied. :)

Happy 6-month birthday, you little stinker!

ShunCheung
Saw this coyote along a hiking trail at the Point Reyes National Seashore in the San Francisco area. The coyote was totally unconcerned about the many hikers around, snapping images of him with their smart phones. I captured this image with the 200-500mm/f5.6 AF-S VR @ 500mm on an FX body. This is most of the entire frame with a bit of cropping. I have a few frames that I had to zoom to 200mm in order to include the entire animal. We were really close.
