dennis_labao
Hello, as i am in the market for a used dslr full frame camera and of-course looking for the lowest actuation, i was just wondering what if the camera has been used extensively primarily on video does it put strain on the shutter mechanism ? how does video affect camera life ?

ed_farmer
Although I admit that I can't answer for certain, I would suggest that video doesn't affect shutter life at all. The shutter is open the entire time that video is being shot. It's not like an old movie camera.

On the other hand, extensive video use COULD affect sensor life. The reason that most DSLR cameras are limited as to the length of time they can shoot a video clip is that the sensors are not properly cooled, compared to a video camera and tend to overheat.

Heat is rarely the a friend to electrical components.
dennis_labao
Thanks for the info, i cant really do anything about it i just gonna have to risk getting a low shutter count with hopefully just a minimal video used.
Anyway thanks again really appreciate it
