noonoo
I've developed T-max 400 film with rodinal (10 min', 1+50) and the negative became extremly contrastic. I usually use T-max developer but i dedided to try rodinal for a change. does these contrast is normal?
al_kaplan1
Whenever you try a new film/developer combination you may have to run through several rolls at different developing times to get the contrast that you prefer and determine the exact ISO to use with it. Seems like a bit less time would bring down the contrast. Try a roll at 8 minutes.
ramiro_aceves
Contrast is a function of development time, try a 30% reduction and see what happens. In two or three tries you will be in the ballpark. Good luck.
walter_glover
Gil, I frequently develop T-Max 400 in Rodinal. My preferred process is Rodinal 1+100 for 15:30 at 20º with intermittant agitation (constant first 30 secs. and then 10 secs every minute thereafter.) I have lost my accurate time for 1+50 but, as I recall, it was in the order of 7 minutes or a little less. These times give a neg which sits on Grade 2 with contact printing. chris_waller
I'm assuming your temperature is correct and your agitation is once every 30 seconds. Check your thermometer. I bought some surplus equipment a month or so back and just out of curiosity I checked the thermometer against mine and found a 3 degree (!) error. I use Rodinal almost exclusively and I would be inclined to give 7 minutes.
