Repairing Epson 4990

Recommended Posts

The bed has two screws at the rear where the top attaches. Remove them, lift up on the rear of the bed cover and unsnap from the front lip. The transport lock may have to be in the lock position for the cover to release. Unplug the front switches and sit the cover aside. The lamp may have a cover over it that is attached with screws. The lamp will unplug.
The transparency adapter will have screws along the outer edge of the glass area. Remove them and separate the glass panel from the cover. They may snap together so pry gently in the gap between the two pieces if needed. The lamp should unplug.
Epson will refer you to one of their partner repair/parts centers as they do not sell parts themselves. The repair center should list the parts by part number or an Illustrated Parts Breakdown with item numbers pointing to the various parts then a list that gives the part number that you order associated with the item number.
A lamp will be in the $40 range.
