gm__fotografie
I need studio lighting for a product shoot and want also to catch the hot flame of a gas burner.
Can anyone tell me how this can be realized... You can image that with flashes coming form the side you cannot see the flame on the picture...

I can capture the flame when i use a long exposre witout a flash under dark conditions.

Are pictures with such a hot flame always added after the shoot in the postproduction ?

best michael

SCL
You need to balance the light intensities such that you can capture both the flame (best to have a dark item behind it) without burning the highlights. This suggests a little experimentation to get the exposure right for the flame, and then dial down the other lights so you can capture the full dynamic range at the exposure for the flame..
geoffs1
A multiple-exposure HDR-style process might work well.
One exposure for the scene and one exposure for the flame luminance.
rodeo_joe1
Use a double exposure (some cameras allow this), simply lengthen the shutter time to capture the flame while using flash, or take two exposures and combine them in Photoshop using the "lighten only" layer mode.

Enough options for you there Michael?
