Sure, I could have had the camera on a tripod and given my best try at some of the big league local fireworks displays. But it was a rainy mess here in the DC area! Instead, we cooked off a handful of ancient backyard-style pyrotechnics we found in the garage. Here's a bit of an abstraction involving a classic smoke worm. Happy Nikon Wednesday AND (if you're in the US) Independence Day. Share some photos!

00e2FG-564115884.jpg.57ad58f94b47194885bae3bf87863090.jpg

As usual on Independence day, Castleton, Vermont has the Samba parade that closes the session of the Governor's Institute for the Arts, one of a group of programs at various colleges for teenagers. Not the best ever this year, but still fun.

Not surprisingly, this year's theme included rainbows.

00e2FP-564116584.jpg.ea22cf91133cb8d823f4cadd7dceee6c.jpg

While waiting for the 4th of July fireworks a storm front moved through NYC hours earlier than expected. I along with about a million people were soaked, the rain continued to drizzle throughout the performance. Today I've ordered a rain cover for my camera and a Poncho for myself that will remain in my camera bag.

00e2Gr-564122384.jpg.5e47fb2041fba57b45e8ab53f25a8685.jpg
