david_simonds1
Friends, this morning I fired up my old D70 for the first time in a long time and the auto-focus would not work. I attached my 12-24. Nothing. Then the 70-210 2.8 VR. At least when I pushed the shutter this time there was a electro-mechanical sound, but no focusing. I then went into the menu and found the utility (pencil?) that identified the auto-focus function. There were two selections but the cursor would not rest on either of them. Just the preceding and following one. Bit of a loss at this point. Suggestions?
Obliged.
D
SCL
Make sure the electrical contacts on the lens and body are clean, your lenses are securely mounted and lens caps removed, and you have fresh batteries. If it still fails, you might have a genuine problem.

paul_k1664875007
Did you check that the AF switch on the left side of the lensmount of the body (!) is in the AF position?

If it's on the M setting, the AF selection in the menu can't indeed be selected with the cursor
