angelo_gallina
Hi, I am new at this forum. A friend of mine has a Mamiya 7 and he would like to buy a 150mm. Is the G 150mm for Mamiya 6 compatible with the Mamiya 7? It is cheaper than the N 150mm, since it is not in production, and I guess it has the same shutter built in, even if the shape of the lens is quite different in the bottom area. I know that Mamiya 7 has more lenses available, like the 43mm, but I guess it only happens because the camera cannot retract the lens as the Mamiya 6 does (sure the 43mm would touch the film!) , so I guess that the 43mm can be used on the 6 being careful not to retract it! Please let me know, thank for all your help,
Angelo
lwg
As far as I know there is no way to use the Mamiya 6 lenses on the 7 body.
mike_earussi1
Completely different formats. Even if the mounts were interchangeable (which they're not) the 6 lenses would vignette severely on the 6x7 format.
angelo_gallina
Thank you for your replies. I thought the flange were the same in the two cameras. Mike, about vignetting, 6x7 is not so bigger than 6x6, but it may be very reasonable.
mike_earussi1
If they were interchangeable Mamiya couldn't have made as much money selling just one lens set instead of two. :) Only Pentax was that thoughtful.
