vitaliy_pronkin
There are two loupes, Cabin Pro 3.5X Loupe PL-356 and Cabin 3X Loupe PL-367 but I can't find their size anywhere and field of view. They are stated to be 6x4.5/6x6 and 6x7 respectively but I'd prefer to be sure before buying. Does anyone have any of them? Can you see entire slide with them? I need it for 6x4.5/6x6 but can buy the bigger one if it covers the entire slide better.

russ_britt3
You know the Hasselblad chimney finder works great for this, and are pretty cheap used.
gareth_williams2
I use the Mamiya RZ chimney which works fine to cover a 6x7 but at low magnification. For a better check on sharpness I prefer my 4x Schneider or even better (and better built) My 6x Silvestri.
Robin Smith
A 3X magnification is enough to see a whole MF frame. For critical focus checking you will need a 6 - 10X loupe.
Robin Smith
vitaliy_pronkin
That's all good advice but I don't think that a chimney finder will provide the same quality as a $200 loupe.
What I found so far is https://majid.info/blog/going-all-loopy-about-loupes/ :

I compared it side by side at Calumet San Francisco with the Cabin 3.5x loupe for 6×4.5 or 6×6. The Cabin had a solid metal constuction (somewhat top-heavy), but its screw-in skirts are less convenient than the slide-in one used in the Rodenstock, and the image circle is too tight for my Hasselblad 6×6 slides. I think that loupe was really designed for 645 format and opportunistically marketed for 6×6, when the 6×7 loupe would actually be more appropriate for that usage.

So I should buy the 6x7 version, not 6x6.
david_smith35
Vitaliy, I have an Ohnar version of the 3.5x loupe you mention, and I'm pretty sure it comes from the same factory as the Cabin brand. It has a magnification of 3.5x and covers the full area of a 6x6 slide with ease. The optics are of excellent quality. Hope this helps.
