simon_gabriel
Hello!
I have an opportunity to buy a Pentax 67 in pretty good condition. It's with a 90mm 2.8 SMC lens - Prism finder, original box and manuals. I normally would haggle for my items (sorry, it's a terrible habit), but he's asking £120 which seems low enough!
Am I getting a good deal with this camera if I was to purchase? Anyone used one of these? Happy?
brian_murphy16
Hi Simon,
Even if it's the non-metered finder, that's a great price. That same kit would run around $450-$600 for a US buyer, and with the dollars-pound sterling exchange, that kit would cost you $193 and the price you mentioned.
As far as performance, I'm looking into one myself. It's supposed to have excellent optics, and if it's anything like the K1000, you can use it as a weapon. Good luck!

PS - I have an old acquaintance that lugs three of these all over Europe doing documentary work, and he's very happy.
danielheller
Never assume that a seller is giving away something out of his "good heart".
Usually, "you get what you pay for". Would it be possible to inspect it?
Prices I believe are about $550-600 (USD) for the older model of this camera.

harveysteeves
I don't know where these guys are getting their prices but around where I live, they go for about $300 or less. But yours is a good price so as long as it is working, buy it. And if its not working, they make really good wheel stops on hills. Or weapons for bears.
brian_murphy16
The prices I've listed were from eBay and KEH. Most of the eBay listings are from Japan, with a few US and UK listings.
steve_rasmussen
"Anyone used one of these? Happy?"
The Pentax 6x7 is a proven pro camera. I have had several since 1988 and all three are still working. Only a couple of repairs necessary in that time. I love this camera system.
25asa
I feel kinda jipped when I sold my Pentax 6x7 MLU with AE Prism. I only got $290 with that including a 105 lens. Of course this was 2 years ago. I have since replaced it with a Pentax 67II.
