I've just had a look at the grain in one of my images as suggested and the grain is also soft in the soft areas. When I first got my scanner and looked at the holder, I couldn't see how they were ever going to hold a negative flat. It seems my fears were justified. I can now see, lifting the scanner lid and looking at the negatives and the way light is being warped all over the place, that they are a long way from flat.<br> The holder holds the negative a millimiter or two above the bed of the scanner and although the film lies quite neatly between the two rails on either side of the holder, there is just too much room for manoeuvre.<br> I'm not quite sure how to solve this one. A piece of glass laid over the negative instead of the holder?
