<p>Always wanted an IR body myself. Those IR images are cool, Chip! Yeah, the VR is pretty good. I was just playing around with some 1/2-second handheld exposures my living room.</p>

<p>Chip, could you pop the camera down in the sunshine and take a pic with the lens cap on for, say, 30 seconds @ ISO 1600 and just see if anything is recorded? Maybe focus on infinity?</p>

<p>I received my HB-69 copy from China a couple days ago. It fits the VR II lens just fine, but is much more flexible than any of my other Nikon hoods. I haven't purchased a new lens in years; don't know if hoods for newer and lower-end lenses are just that way.</p>

<p>Whatever the case, I'm pleased with my purchase. I got a decent hood for $5.79.</p>
