cabbiinc
This depends a lot on what you plan to shoot with it. How you plan to shoot.
hjoseph7
If you are new to flash photography why don't you start off right and get a Canon speed light. You might be able to get a good deal on a 430EX on eBay. At least then you will know what you can do and can't do with your flash.
pr_k
My main interest in portraits and I will use indoors of my house. I am mainly looking at at least 2 Speedlights. So require that they have slave capabilities.
cabbiinc
These should work fine, although I only know of the YN stuff from what I've read hear and other places. Make certain that they function when you get them. Check all power levels. You'll want to know if one is broken sooner than later.

You'll also want umbrellas or softboxes to soften the light. The larger the modifier the softer the light.
