vrankin
Mike, the horse and rider series is incredible! I hope the rider came through that okay. Many outstanding images, so far today, everyone! Unfortunately, I haven't been out with the Nikon for over a month. Thanks everyone, for the inspiration to get back out soon.

ShunCheung
Went whale watching in Monterey Bay in the central California coast. I booked a 5:30pm cruise, but it was heavily overcast so that I got none of the late-afternoon light I had hoped for. It was also a rough boat ride so that I was holding onto the railing all the time. Thanks to the nice grip on the D7100, I was holding the camera and a relatively big lens with mostly my right hand only. During the trip, I suddenly noticed the 1.3x crop frame inside the viewfinder. Unfortunately, I had already captured quite a few frames with that setting, unintentionally, and it messed up my composition of this image a bit. Fortunately, I knew how to turn that off, which is a feature I never use (on purpose) on the D7100.

80-400mm/f4.5-5.6 AF-S VR @ 190mm, 1/500 sec, f5.6 and ISO 400.

thadley
- Kent, to us photographers, our equipment is very precious to us. And you had a HELL of a day! My deepest sympathies and trust that something good will come from this adversity.

My shot was taken in carlisle Bay in Barbados which is a coral island with many beaches like this. It was the last day of a vacation there in July. I was waiting for my favorite restaurant "the brown Sugar" to open for their caribbean buffet lunch which features local delights like flying fish, pepper pot, soused breadfruit, etc. The car was packed and I would be heading to the International airport for my flight to Canada after the lunch was completed.

LEX - some incredible shots with that special technique.

Mary Doo
Supermoon at twilight on Sunday.

I would have preferred to have the moon sitting on the horizon with the moon beams directly reflected below. Unfortunately it was too hazy and the moon was not visble until it rose quite a bit above the horizon.
