aplumpton
Nice image, Frederick, it is certainly atmospheric.

I have taken very similar ones to yours in Senlis, Blaye, Lucca and Paris, but I find that the high contrast and obscuring of details works against the divulging of the nature of the space photographed, whether it is details of the buildings, the signs or other descriptors hidden in such a high contrast image. I think it would be good to add a more detail in your subject, perhaps using a tripod and an HDR technique ti expand the range and to avoid overblowing the highlights.

Robin Smith
It's lacking in life: no people or action, which rather gives the impression it was taken at 3:00 am or thereabouts. Maybe that is the point?

Eddie - I like the Banksy!
Robin Smith
john_boyle3
Very fine photo Frederick. It has an atmosphere of its own that does not require people. We all have our own tastes and that picture suits mine.

frederick_muller
That's what London is like ... a million people come in to work during the day and once the pubs close it's a 15th century ghost town.

Robin Smith
Frederick are you referring to the City of London i.e. the "Square Mile"? I agree with you if you are, although investment bank personnel are always working. If you say the "city of London" as you did then it means the West End, and the City of Westminster, Borough Kensington and Chelsea and all the rest of what most of us think of as "London". These are not quiet after dark. The City of London is a outwardly a much more impressive conglomeration of financial institutions than Wall St.
Robin Smith
chuck_albertson1
Have they finished the construction up by the top of the lane? There's a decent Italian restaurant there that I wasn't able to get to a couple of months ago, because of all the scaffolding.
