Kent Shafer
Kyle: Great pictures, and I agree they're brave. Reminds me of the old wheezer:

Q: Why do bicycle racers shave their legs?

A: So it won't hurt as much when they tear off the bandages.

DawsonPointers
Greetings from the depths of northern Ontario.
We spent the last 3 weeks visiting both shores of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec. Absolutely beautiful!
I took these shots of a minke whale from the cliffs at the shore of our campsite in St. Simeon.
The first is of the whale approaching and just coming up for air. I hope you can see the blow hole in this small format image.

DawsonPointers
It even rolled for us. They apparently do that sometimes as they catch the fish in their baleen. I like that explanation better than the thought that we were being mooned by a whale.

hanappa
Nothing foolhardy, but we did finally have some rain, so there is a new life to nature around here. Below are two from this past week, the damsels anthropomorphized into a couple of couples chatting. The fern was naturally lit through the trees.

Gup
Matt, your image brought back some memories and a trip through the archives.
When younger, 15 or 20 of us used to transport our dirtbikes to a location near Lake Erie on long weekends and participate in various 'sports' and challenges. One sport we called 'Moto-Ball' and was basically soccer on bikes. I was always the resident photog and videographer and so had to divide my time. When photographing moto-ball I would basically kneel in the centre of the field and everyone would attempt to avoid me. The most thrilling shots are on 8mm video, though, where the audio plays a huge role in determining the proximity and identity of the rider. Ahhh, there's nothing like the smell of two-strokes in the morning...
These three were shot over 30 years ago and recently scanned on a Nikon LS 9000.

cjk
Greetings to all,

Many great pictures today. I love Lil's portrait of her daughter and Lorne's baby snow leopard...

Mine is of last week's full moon over Manhattan, taken from across the Hudson.
The landscape was taken at 35mm while the moon at (about) 200mm and the 2 photos merged in Photoshop. If you look closely, you can see the "real" moon's halo behind the Freedom Tower. I was to lazy to edit it out...

Cheers,
CJK

purplealien
Happy Wednesday everyone. Lots of lovely work once again. The photos I lingered over the most this week were: Mikhail's beach, Simon's Angel of the North and Lil's beautiful b&w portrait of her daughter.

It was a quiet week for me photographically, so here's a couple more from one of my wheat field series....
