A good Nikon Wednesday to everyone. So, there I was the other day standing in a parking lot where a company of trainers was teaching a handful of novice motorcycle riders how to stay alive and pass their upcoming license tests. Over time, I'll be shooting some video of their classes, including stuff from the ground, and some overhead aerials. I was struck by this one instructor's confidence in his new students, acting, as he was, like a human traffic cone. At least he had the presence of mind to keep his helmet on! Photographed any bravery or foolhardiness lately? Share!

00c1MC-542695684.jpg.86024a10313ad7edb5f187cfd62baddf.jpg

Good Wednesday morning, fellow Nikonistas! Great start for this week's thread you have here, great shots from everyone!
My shot is - surprise, surprise - a shot of our puppy, tried to take a few studio light shots but she was way too wild at the moment. This is one of the few ones that were even remotely OK.

Hi, friends,
this picture was made with Nikon D300s and 200-400mm f/4. I was observing the bird (starling) catching the meal. When I was looking at the pictures on my monitor I noticed the second insect which was lucky this time and didn't finish as a meal for the bird.
Regards, Miha.
P.S. It is a 'lucky' bird... (I just can not correct the typo in the caption).

00c1NJ-542698584.jpg.97eb2123fd6499384bd2cae587275f53.jpg

Hey, Matt, screen grab from video? Yup, I have some of those. From Hip Pocket Theatre's curtain call for "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". Only tricky bit is the V1 in default mode forces refocus while snapping stills during video. So the video shows seemingly inexplicable focus hunting. And you can get the same quality results just by grabbing a frame from the video with an appropriate editor.

Hi everyone in the Nikon forum. Lovely photos so far, though I must admit that Janne's puppy steals the show for me. But then, how can a puppy not.....

My photos this week are a variety of shots. They're all shot with the D800 and I hope you will enjoy :)

The first one I'll present I shot last week. My daughter wanted some new attempts for head shots for when she does auditions. I have to admit I'm in love with this photo. So I have to admit I hope you'll like it as well. Shot with the D800 & the 70-200 VR f/2.8 (the old one) at f/2.8 @ 200 mm, 1/250, ISO 200, Flash off camera in Aperture mode...

And the second one is shot with the 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 AF at f/8 @ 42 mm, 1/1600, ISO 200 Aperture Priority For the first time ever I made it out to Catalina Island off the Los Angeles/California coast with my family when they were visiting. We went for the day & on the way back we were treated to an amazing sunset on the water....

then thirdly, I'm sure making sure there's variety this time...... We went to the beach on the main land & I found this little Snowy Egret which seems to like to "sit". This is shot with the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 at f/8 @ 300 mm, 1/2000, ISO 200, -2/3 EV in Aperture Priority as well, with a slight crop as the yucky water & the bird would let me get any closer..... So this one I call "I think my manicure needs some help or Focused......" ;)
