Rollei 35 and Neopan SS.

Recommended Posts

I purchased a Rollei 35 about two years ago and I finally took it out to give it a test run. The Fuji Neopan SS was initially in another camera but I transfered it to the Rollei. I need to work on the scale focus for the close shots. Something for a future roll. I am pleased with the little pocket camera.

I started out at Essex County NJ Overbrook Asylum for the Insane. I could swear the place is haunted. That is either a dark ghost in the fore ground or remnants of the film transfer process.

Thanks Louis. I think these Rollei 35s

have a cult following.

Walter, I live in West Orange and was

raised in Bloomfield. The Branch Brook

Park Cherry Blossoms are better then

ever. I have been by the Rose garden

in Glen Ridge at Maolis and Hawthorne

but it was out of season. I plan on

visiting this Summer

Great results from a little camera of real quality. What an amazing location that grim old asylum and firehouse provides; even the trees look menacing and spooky. If I lived near it I think I'd feel a photographic essay coming on...Nice post, Raymond, with great tones from the Neopan.

I really liked that Art Deco Firehouse I hope it gets rescued... I'd hate to think it will lie abandoned sol that they have to tear it down . Indeed thos Rollei 35s do have a cult following. They are small portable and when you get used to their quirks very handy delviering excellent results with those sharp Zeiss lenses.

The architecture of those abandoned buildings appears to be impressive. Especially the fire station. It would be a shame to allow them to collapse into ruin.

About your little Rollei, I agree. Not only are they cute, but they are great picture takers, once you learn how to use them.

I've never used Neopan SS. How do you like it? It appears to have been replaced by ACROS, which I haven't used either.

Rick, thanks. I am glad I stopped by the site and had a

camera. There are a lot more buildings there. The county

has Sheriff's Officers patrol the grounds and they really do

not want people about. The property is posted with no

trespassing signs. Though I was there for quite some time

and saw no law enforcement.

Gene, thanks for looking.

Chuck, the firehouse and the land around it were

purchased by a developer. There were 4 other large

buildings on that tract of land that have been demolished. I

also hope the firehouse does not share their fate.

Michael, I use the Neopan SS to test my old camera

purchases. I was getting it for about $2 a roll. It was great

for that purpose. I have never shot Acros 100 in 135 format

so I really can't compare.
