Thanks for getting us going Mark - nice shot of a white-cheeked pintail(?). Amazing display Robert, but still no Nathan; lets try a thunder clap!
As a late afternoon thunderstorm moved off to the east our village was lit by a warm sunset glow. There was a spectacular rainbow against the dark receding clouds. Magical lighting and so I rushed to get my camera and drove out of the village to a good view point - unfortunately I missed the best shots. Lesson : always have your gear ready for the unexpected.

00bRm9-525349584.jpg.7728c141325b3033f958a170ec3c3554.jpg

Robert, I see you made it to Middle Creek. Isn't that an amazing sound? This is from a small manmade pond where groups of snow geese come to take a bath, eat ice, and hang out. A fence prevents access to water level, but we can still get close enough to exchange glances.

00bRmE-525351584.jpg.527575b9c048f607a9582b3d3b2e8421.jpg

I've just sold this shot to a magazine who want it for a two page spread. It was taken on the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park last year. The building in the background is Windsor Castle.
I put the shot on the ratings queue last year, but it wasn't to the PN public taste.

Beautiful Duck, Mark. Thanks for getting the thread started. David, I'm really jealous of that Great Horned Owl shot. I was looking at one through a spotting scope a couple of days ago, but there is no way to get close enough for a photo of any kind. Great shots here this morning, as usual. I haven't been participating much recently, but I have been watching the contributions each week, and its always a humbling and inspiring set of photos. My first shot this week is this male Northern Cardinal, shot a couple of weeks ago.

This is a Harris's Sparrow, which somehow found its way sever hundred miles East of its normal Winter grounds. Typically nor seen East of Nebraska, this bird has been at the local wetlands in Central Ohio for a few months now. It takes some patience to get to see him, much less to get a photo, but I have been fortunate to get photos on three different occasions. This is the most recent, and except for the blurry branch in the foreground, the best. Shot this past Sunday.

was hoping to get a comet and moon shot like what James captured but it wasn't to be as the clouds just wouldn't get out of the way here in Cleveburg....settled for a couple shots of pennies on a table waiting to be rolled

00bRpD-525411684.jpg.5082fe53fb91224a32c77e4aec04b07d.jpg
