tom_williams12
I have a Nikon D300. I recently got a Tamron 90mm lens to begin some macro photography. My problem is, periodically the lens loses contact with the cameras electronics. It won't focus and I can't take a photo. It's as if the electronics are 'dead'. I have 3 other Nikon lenses and they all work well. I only have this issue with the Tamron. I would appreciate any suggestions folks might have to fix this issue. Matt Laur
Have you cleaned the contacts (on both the camera body and the lens)? Cotton swab, alcohol.
tom_williams12
Hi Matt. Thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried cleaning the contacts as you suggest. No luck. It still sporadically loses contact.
bgelfand
I believe Tamron lenses have a six year warranty; it is time to call Tamron.
evannorth
i had a problem with the tamron 90mm and the d90. now and then it would give a false low battery warning and refuse to work unless i switched the d90 off and gave the lens a slight twist.
tom_williams12
Evan, that's exactly what is happening with mine. Any cure?
evannorth
sorry tom. it just seems to be a variation in manufacturing tolerances. when i moved up to the d7000 the tamron 90 worked properly.
i got shot of the lens anyway as the problem had already made my mind up for me. i also disliked the fact that it doubled in length so i bought a sigma 150.
