Spearhead Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013
Photos are copyrighted at the time they are taken. The copyright belongs to the photographer unless there is an agreement stating otherwise or it's done as work for hire. If you are asking about copyright registration, you can do that online through the US Copyright Office, assuming you are in the US (it helps to say where you are.) Information on that process can be found here.
Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Charles_Webster Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013
Based on Alex's previous thread about publishing a photo book of Ground Zero photos, I suspect he's in the US.
Alex, just follow the instructions on the site Jeff points to and you'll be good. It becomes effective immediately upon you sending them in (by mail or electronically), you don't have to wait till the gov't processes the application.
Here's a site that has lots of discussion on the subject http://thecopyrightzone.com/
And here's the ASMP site's Best Practices Guide http://asmp.org/
<Chas>

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
