marco_landini
Hi guys.
I' m going to receive a lot of 48 bit tiff files, from my 35mm slides scanned by a Nikon Coolscan 5000 from a local lab. I' m here to ask you suggestions about capture sharpening to add to the scanned slides. The lab did only "ICE fine " to the frames, no sharpening at all , nor via scanner , nor via software.
Can you please tell me a general setting to restore the capture sharpening to my scanned slides ? I can use smart sharpen on PS, or Photokit Sharpener. Thanks
anthony_r.1
I'm by no means an expert, but I don't think you should need capture sharpening for scanned images. Capture sharpening is for RAW conversion. Someone else may have a better answer?
mattb1
All digital capture needs some sharpening. Can not give you any settings, have not scanned for a while. But, the initial sharpening should be minimal. Restoring the images natural local contrast will help a lot with the perceived sharpness. Most sharpening is done at output time and will vary with the output medium.
Robin Smith
Just add some until it looks sharp enough for you at 100%.
Robin Smith
ellis_vener_photography
Photokit Sharpener has capture sharpening settings for various film format size scanned images. These must be 35mm so start there.
