This battle was going on in my back yard. This red tail hawk was trying to catch this squirrel and the squirrel was trying to scarce him away from his nest. Was very funny to watch and photograph. The squirrel knew just how close he could get without getting caught. The hawk finally gave up.
Some great shots today. I went to an open house at our local veterinary hospital and it was fun with games for the kids, food, and a demonstration by the Ashland County Sheriff's Office K-9 Team.
I call this photo, "Ummm this tastes much better than that puppy chow"

00aloq-493691584.jpg.5230f50679e186e7bd062da0077f8cd8.jpg

Hello Nikon-loving fans,
As I practice more with painting with light, I caught this at a park before a firworks show. Young person had a light-up sword toy, and with some good moves on his part and a little exposure time on my part, made for interesting results.

00alp1-493697684.jpg.3914d5332ff033d8d6a5c4b7bdbc3077.jpg

I thought I'd stumbled into Week #33 after seeing Bob Dein and Matthew Vesci's photos. Both are memorable shots along with many others today. Hope all of our friends on the Gulf Coast of Issac's path are staying safe! Today's contribution is a Blue and Gold Macaw (D7000/300mm f/4@1/500, f/5.6, ISO 400):

This is a streetable drag race car seen at last week's Woodward Dream Cruise. There's a nitrous oxide bottle where the back seat used to be. The car cruises on pump premium, but when racing it sips super-high octane racing gas from the auxiliary tank on the front bumper. Having the auxiliary tank out front lets the g-force during hard acceleration help push fuel toward the engine rather than hindering it.

"Moby" here kept knocking on the patio door. 3" long, this is the first Cecropia moth caterpillar we've seen here. It was a good chance to see how the new D800 does using the 24-85 VR Nikkor. Still getting used to LR-4 and have issues with pixelation in processed D800 images. Any tips on working with these huge-o D800 files will be appreciated.

00alqC-493727684.jpg.55809f713d3ab7ae810f5a7a85c116fa.jpg
