With emergency preparations in place, and the storm raging outside, we're stuck inside. What to do but celebrate with a nice romantic dinner. (We got off lightly up here; our thoughts are with friends in NY/NJ who had a lot more damage.)

Thoughts and prayers for everyone on the east coast, those affected inland, and all who are giving their best care to the grieving and injured, and to those beginning the long restoration. Here in Port Washington north of Milwaukee we experienced an unusually high surf. This photo shows some high school boys running out between waves on the breakwater, though the Coast Guard warned to stay back. Thankfully, no one was washed out into the waves.

00ayvb-501749684.jpg.7938c726789187e41e33b33497724874.jpg

Wall Clock. Built of East Indian rosewood and birdseye maple solids and veneers and American black cherry. The piece is finished with polyurethane. The dial is a 180 mm white porcelain regulator. The movement is a Kieninger PS type that includes a 93 cm polished brass pendulum with 140 mm bob, a dead-beat Graham escapement, and a 160 mm coil gong. It chimes the hours and strikes on the half-hour. The movement is configured for an 8-day fall. The movement was purchased in 1978 and was never used. It was given to me as a gift after a friend's passing. D700, 24 mm.

00aywP-501763584.jpg.9a8ba2e29c04563ff5b623962f4a32c4.jpg
