iversonwhite
Do Kirk L-brackets position the lens at the same height for verticals and horizontals?
ljwest
If you visit their website: http://www.kirkphoto.com/L-Brackets.html you can see straight-on photos of the bracket with a camera (greyed out) mounted to it.

For the few Canon DSLRs I looked it seems that the center of the lens is not at the same height above the tripod head in both positions. But this appears to be much more of a difference in the camera design, and nothing to do with the bracket, which is basically designed to hug the camera's contours. In most DSLRs, the lens center to bottom of camera distance is different from the lens center to side of camera distance.

If the bracket were designed to keep the lens exactly in the same height relation to the mount plate, it would be unnecessarily bulky and ungainly in most applications.

But it's always possible there is one or more combinations that do!

peter_j2
On my Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II with a KIRK Enterprises BL-MARK II L Bracket, there is a difference of about +12mm in the landscape position. So, the answer is no.
ljwest
If the OP really, truly, absolutely requires this, Really Right Stuff has a bracket for it...
