steve_johnston4
Sorry to ask a fundamental question! I just started using the Nikon D800E. My Adobe PSE-6 does not recognize the RAW output of the camera. I have not found a download from Adobe for my Elements-6. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Wouter Willemse
Elements 6 is not going to support the D800E, as you'd need the latest version of Adobe Camera RAW, which isn't available for PSE6.
So you'd either have to upgrade to PSE 10, or:
- Lightroom, CaptureOne, CaptureNX2 - do the main work in one of those, and leave PSE6 only for the occassional heavier editing (all those programs have trial versions, worth checking out which program you like best - there are more, I just listed the first three that came to mind).
- ViewNX2 (free) to do a simple RAW to TIFF conversion, and then work on the TIFF file in PSE6.
vrankin
The free ViewNX2 download from Nikon actually can do quite a bit more than just convert your raw to tiff. It has a number of good, basic editing tools. You might try it, while working out longer range options.

rcrivoliophotography
I would always recommend converting to DNG format. It will make future editing much easier. You also have the ability to embed the original NEF file within the DNG.

steve_johnston4
"Spend 10% of what I spent on the camera to upgrade my PSE" Well, fine. I am a shooter and a printer. I am not in the business of continuously updating hardware and software. My coustomers do not care whether I use Windows 98 or 8, PSE6 or 10.
