i1Display Pro software only

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to optimize purchase of NEC monitor + calibration/profiling
Can I buy/download for free i1Display Pro but software only without sensor?
My idea is to buy NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK-SV 24.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor with SpectraViewII Color Calibration Solution
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/689879-REG/NEC_PA241W_BK_SV_MultiSync_PA241W_BK_SV_24_1_Widescreen.html
Because I own other not NEC monitors I'd like to use the sensor from the NEC's kit and X-Rite software for profiling other monitors
Thank you

If you register on X-Rite’s site, they do provide the ability to download their software products. I’m not 100% positive the NEC sensor will let you do what you want here, it might have some firmware that doesn’t work with the X-Rite software, not sure.

Thank you Andrew,
The problem I'm facing currently is that NEC does not distribute SpectraView software outside of the US. I cannot buy it even in Canada. So I cannot buy i1Display Pro (Sensor+software ) + SpectraView software + NEC monitor

The version of the i1DP puck that NEC sells is firmware locked so that it will not work with the X-Rite software. According to Will Hollingworth, Senior Manager, Product Development, NEC Display Solutions of America, Inc.

His exact words: "Note that the NEC SpectraSensor Pro is not supported in the X-Rite software" See http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=55382.msg476865#msg476865

After reading this, I bought a PA241W, the retail version of the i1DP, and bought Spectaview by itself from NEC's web site. So I can use the i1DP with Spectraview with my PA241W, and can use the i1DP with the XRite software on my non-NEC monitors. I live in the US.

It is the same hardware so even at a higher cost, that is probably the only viable solution. At one point, there was a possibility that X-rite would not allow others access to this great hardware so the firmware limitations were necessary.

Thank you, guys
I have done the same. Also I called to NEC customer support and they told that I can buy NEC's software in Canada by phone, but not online. Just their web site prevents it. So essentially I can download the software and than obtain the key by phone. I will do it later when motor is arrived and I test its compatibility with video card.
